Welcome to Black Horse & Hoodens!
Our intentions are simple; to offer our customers the happiest satisfaction with perfectly kept cask ales and a great choice in wines, beers, soft drinks and beverages and great entertainment. As a relaxed, family friendly, community pub, whether you’re looking for a quiet pint with a good read or a great place to meet with friends we can deliver with friendly, informal but attentive service.
Well behaved children are very welcome but please note that out of respect for our other customers we do expect children's activity to be closely supervised by their carers at all times, please also note our policy that there are no children in the bar area after 8pm. We have full mother and baby facilities available.
We hope you will find all the information you need here but if you would like to know more then please get in touch and we’ll be delighted to help you.
FEBRUARY NEWS.
A small cheer as the final part of the refurbishment agreement from our landlords was ticked off this month. It took them quite a few attempts but now the latest set of bespoke cellar flaps are fitted perfectly and, after almost two years, we can finally say that not a square inch of the building has been overlooked in their upgrade. Ladies and gents, you now have one of the best examples of 'flagship' pub for H+S compliance in the entire South East region as your local!
Alison has just completed her first Beer Acadamy course in London, 'How To Judge Beer'... having had to sample uncountable ales and continental beers she thinks she earned the certificate just for managing to stay almost sober. She's looking forward to the two day advanced course next week!
In spite of the awful weather the hens are all coming back into lay and so the fresh egg count is slowly rising again.
The raffle in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support was won by Paul Turner from Platt who is looking forward to driving a fantastic Morgan car once the weather improves! We raised £200 in ticket sales and added another £100.
